Incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating management and recovery of inland trout populations. This is a supervisory level position overseeing the workforce of 6-8 permanent professional staff and varying seasonal staff. The BRET office organized the event.Under the general direction of the Environmental Program Manager I of the Fisheries Branch Inland Fishes Conservation and Management Program, incumbent works in an extremely independent capacity. They were followed by faculty research presentations by Katherine Friedman, Ph.D., Mark Wallace, Ph.D., and James Crowe, M.D.įaculty, staff and family donations and the Vanderbilt Medical Alumni Association provided support for the ceremony and lab coat gifts. Graduate student perspectives were given by second-year student Ian Williams, fourth-year student Cara Wogsland, and 2014 graduate Odaine Gordan, Ph.D. Other biomedical programs and departments welcoming doctoral students were Biological Sciences (7), Biomedical Informatics (2), Biostatistics (4), Cognitive Systems Neuroscience (6), Epidemiology (3), Hearing and Speech Sciences (3), Molecular Physiology and Biophysics (1), Nursing Science (2), Pharmacology (1) and Quantitative and Chemical Biology (5).ĭuring a special session for students and families preceding the ceremony, Chalkley discussed challenges students will face during their training and what effect this might have on parent-child communications. Incoming doctoral student Matthew Kent, right, is congratulated by James Patton, Ph.D., after receiving his lab coat. Seven are supported through the Vanderbilt International Scholars Program, and the largest group of 58 students entered graduate school through the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program. Gould and Roger Chalkley, D.Phil., senior associate dean for Biomedical Research Education and Training (BRET), presented each student with a white lab coat, a “classic symbol” of scientific training. “From so simple a beginning as graduate school, we cannot yet imagine the breadth of discoveries … you as trained scientists will have on our world,” Gould said. Kathy Gould, Ph.D., associate dean for Biomedical Sciences and director of Graduate Student Support, said the name of the ceremony comes from Charles Darwin’s “On the Origin of Species:” “from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved.” “That is truly being educated as a scientist.” Doctoral students Jenny Aguilar, left, and Bethany Dale share a laugh with Roger Chalkley, D.Phil, following last week’s ‘Simple Beginnings’ ceremony in Light Hall. “I hope you will learn great science, as well as great culture, great collaboration,” said Balser, who earned his M.D. “The way those things are handled ultimately determines the health of people. “The best science is now being done at places where people enjoyably and comfortably work together across disciplines for the science, and not for themselves,” he said. In opening remarks, Jeff Balser, M.D., Ph.D., vice chancellor for Health Affairs and dean of the School of Medicine, noted that “science today is a team sport.” 29, during the fifth annual “Simple Beginnings” ceremony in a Light Hall lecture room packed with family members and other well-wishers. Each customer’s box can be expanded to show the health status for each disk:Ĭustomers can see their cumulative disk health statistics. The color of each block corresponds to the current average state of the disks installed in the computers of a specific customer. This monitoring does not slow down the user machine in any way, as Acronis agents are optimized to act during disk operations that happen during software running cycles.Īs a result, the admins at a service provider will be able to see something like this: Disks are actively monitored for latency distribution, giving the AI more data to process. There are also several events in the Windows operating system related to HDD and SSD performance that are analyzed as well, including bad blocks reported, delays or no access to disk, delayed write to disk, file systems corruption, etc.Īcronis software agents also collect the write/read performance on endpoint machines, so both the transfer rate and disk queue length is taken into consideration when creating the ML model. reports of the disk drive itself, with many parameters collected and analyzed at scheduled time intervals. The main source of data actually comes from the S.M.A.R.T. Using machine learning, it processes a large amount of disk-drive-related parameters to build a model that can predict when a drive will fail with a high degree of accuracy. The ultimate goal was to decrease the downtime caused by storage media failure by providing users with an easy, automated way to both predict the failure and quickly recover from it.Īcronis achieved this goal by developing Acronis Disk Health Service, which predicts disk drive failure and alerts the administrator, suggesting various actions to decrease expected downtime.Īcronis Disk Health Service is a cloud-based service that is hosted in the company’s data centers around the world. Many of our developments are focused on data safety predictions and, as a result, using disk drives as storage media were of interest to our engineers. Predicting drive failure using artificial intelligenceĪs an innovative technology company, Acronis has been investing in various artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) based technologies for several years. Depending on the backup configuration, that loss can range from a few hours to several days. If a hard drive fails before the next scheduled backup is done, all of the work from that period can be lost. In addition to data access, another point is related to data safety. For a managed service provider, such a disk failure can become a real headache, as a technician may have to visit the customer. In the best-case scenario, the data is backed up and the only loss is the time required to reimage the system on a new drive – but even that causes unscheduled delays and a reprioritization of IT resources. A failed hard drive means downtime – and all of the lost revenue and increased expenses that entails. When we’re talking about running a business, however, the issue of disk failure is much worse. For individuals, the issue is usually solved by using a backup product such as Acronis True Image, which allows users to restore data from backup. Several factors can lead to errors in these data storage devices.įor complete cyber protection, ensuring the stability and reliability of your drive is critical to safeguarding your data.ĭisk drive failure typically makes some of the stored data inaccessible, and there’s often no cheap or easy way to restore that data. hard disk drives or HDD), newer solid-state drives (SSD) that use flash memory also face issues once their memory cells start to fail. While this is particularly true of traditional, magnetic disk hard drives (a.k.a. Because if your drive fails, any data stored on it can be lost forever.Īll hard drives will fail at some point. While cyber protection is most frequently discussed in relation to managing and securing operating software, it can also involve managing the hardware that stores your valuable data – namely your disk drives. Instead, what is needed is modern cyber protection – a more complete, multilayered approach that protects all environments, systems, and data. Users are more aware that traditional backup cannot address the threats and challenges of the modern world. In today’s digital world, the completeness of your data protection is critical. Here is the work of the Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 students at my school. What would you change about the project?.You can see the equations of the line segments in the picture here. Your picture must consists of at least 10 different line segments. If you click on each graph it will forward you to the. On a (paper) sheet of graph paper, draw a picture made up of only straight line segments. Students were instructed to use Desmos Graphing Calculator to create a picture using equations of lines. They are a work in progress Looking forward to seeing them completed. What did you like the most about the project? Here are some updates on a few pictures using equations of lines. Two “Reflection” screens for after the project was finished.Example screens that taught them how to restrict and color their graphs (and more) for them to examine and play with.A link to Learn Desmos so they can use more advanced equations.I had them print out their Desmos Art, and I made a huge collage of it on my wall in the back of the room. After they finished the project, I turned on the “Reflection” slides so they could fill those out. I used teacher pacing, and restricted the screens to 1 – 5 during the project. By using an Activity Builder, I was also able to include the instructions for the projects and helpful tips for them. Having them do the project through an Activity Builder helped me manage all of their graphs so I could easily view them and access them for help. To keep all of their art projects in one place, I created a Desmos Activity Builder for the project. I loved how excited they were about creating their art! I have done this with students in Pre-Algebra and up, but you could change the project to make it appropriate for lower grade levels by having them graph only lines, or having them plot points in a Desmos table and connect them. It was a blast for me and a great learning experience for them. They came to me outside of class to learn how to graph certain functions, restrict their graph, and color in their art. My students loved the art they saw on Desmos, and were excited to create their own pictures. I showed them examples from Staff Pics, Creative Art to motivate them and give them ideas. A subreddit dedicated to sharing graphs created using the Desmos graphing calculator. Last year I had my students create an art picture using Desmos.
In multiplayer, it causes the player to suicide and allows the player to change characters at their next respawn. Restart/Suicide: In singleplayer, T restarts the level and returns the character to the spawn point. Show/Hide Cursor: X toggles the visibility of the cursor. Saluting has no real uses, and the animation can be interrupted by executing any other action.įire Flare: The 1,2, and 3 keys fire the Green, Red, and Black flares respectively. Salute: Pressing the N key causes the player to perform a saluting animation. Lock on Nape: "F" locks the camera on the nape of the nearest titans. Dodge can be combined with the movement keys to alter the direction of the dodge. More information in the Game Mechanics section.ĭodge: Left control causes the player to backflip in the direction opposite to what they are facing. Replace Blade: The R key exchanges current or lost blades for a new pair of blades. More information in the Character section. Holding left mouse readies the attack, which is released upon the depression of the left mouse button or when the player runs into an object.Ĭharacter Special: Pressing right mouse performs the special respective to each character. Reel: Scroll down on the the mouse wheel to reel in, scroll up on the mouse wheel to reel out.Īttack: Pressing left mouse slashes with both blades. Hold the keys down do keep the hook attacked, depress the keys to release the hooks.ĭouble Hook: The space bar launches both hooks in the direction the small arrows beside the reticle are pointing. Pressing both Q and E at the same time launches both hooks, which will pull the player faster. The hooks launch in the direction that the cursor is aimed. Launch Hook: Pressing Q launches the left hook, pressing E launches the right hook. Holding shift activates the gas, which boosts speed Combining keys allows for diagonal movement.
Microsoft protects all its files with an Advanced Encryption Standard and a cryptographic hash function so your password can be converted into a 128-bit key. You can keep the contents of your file private with a password so only authorized can view it. This means it limits the capabilities it can execute thus reducing the risk of a macro-based virus from entering your PC.Īnother feature you can use is the Password Protect. Word 2019 has a solution for this it regulates the macros functions of a file. These are used to prevent repetitive sequences of automated keystrokes and mouse movements however, it can also host viruses from emails, instant messaging applications, and USB flash drives. Securityįiles created in Microsoft 365 can be embedded with programs and advanced macros. This feature will help those that express themselves better through speech. You can dictate words, punctuation marks, new lines, and new paragraphs. Once a red dot appears on the page, it means that the Dictate feature is active. Its similar to the Windows Speech Recognition (or Speech Services) feature except that the activity is under Word’s control. There is also an option for you to dictate the words you want to appear on the paper. There is also a catalog of different voices that have a variety of accents. You can instruct it to fast forward, go back, pause, read louder, faster, etc. It appears as a small toolbar on the upper right corner of the text area. As the name suggests, the tool reads the text on the page for you. Read Aloud is an updated version of a previous Office Command - Speak. It’s a set of five tools, namely Column Width, Page Color, Text Spacing, Syllables, and Read Aloud. Learning Tools is Word’s collection of tools that will help with reading comprehension. The features are not exclusive to writers, but for those that draw illustrations and write equations as well.
Our women's v-neck t-shirts are a longer, looser fit than our standard round-neck women's, and are 100% cotton.Īll our garments are ethically produced: read our full ethical policy here. *Available in black only Women's V-Neck T-Shirts (Height = top of front collar to bottom of garment Width = armpit to armpit) Saka, Trossard, Martinelli vs Saka, G.Our round-neck women's t-shirts are all high quality, 100% organic cotton.Īll our garments are ethically produced: read our full ethical policy here.Raya – White, Sailba, Gabs, TOMY – Rice, Partey – Ode – Saka, G.Jesus, Martinelli Raya (boo) – White, Saliba, Gabs, Zinchenko – Rice, Jorginho – Odegaard – Saka, Havertz, Martinelli OR Liverpool may lose a few points here and there (but not more than 4 by 31st of March)…so we don’t have any margins… Zinchenko also seems less reliable this season with lots of ups and worrying downs…As for Gabriel, he is a very good defender but he is not a great defender (ie: Van Dijk, Dias level) and I am hoping that we will go for a world-class central defender in the summer (Kim from Bayern would be great for example, Branthwaithe from Everton is on his way to become a great CB so maybe…).Īnyways, the point is that we need to keep a high level of performance until 31st of March to give ourselves a chance to still be in the title race by the time we meet City.Ĭity has KDB and Haaland back and they won’t lose many points. I think with Tomy and Partey coming back soon, we will add some quality to our squad and hopefully, we can get Timber back because I do not rate Kiwior very highly…He is error prone, can be bullied and is not very fast…he is got a good pass on him but other than that… Havertz also puts in a very good shift lately…We are actually more solid with him in the team it seems but he really needs to add some goals and assists to his game for us now…Hard worker but now we want more attacking stats □ LB / Fred – how are you? Where is everyone? Keep calm, keep winning and carry on…If we have 67 points by March 30th, we will still in the race…Anything lower and we may be out of it by April 1st, no joke □ Tomy is going to be back soon and hoping that we will be able to count on G. West Ham (A), Burnley (H), Newcastle (H), Sheffield (A), Brentford (H), Chelsea (H) = 18 points… Now the most important thing is not to celebrate being back in the title race but to CAPITALIZE on this wonderful win by winning the next games and being consistent…We can only keep fighting for the title if we win games…and now losing or dropping points until the 31st of March is not an option at all…We gotta win against all teams until then…We could then face Man City with a chance to tilt the race in our favour… Rice…ģ-1 at home against Liverpool and now we are back in the title race while also giving an edge to Man City in the title race… Ben White also had at an excellent game but the MOTM was clearly Jorginho who was able to dictate pace alongside signing-of-the-season D. Our set-up was very solid with Havertz and Odegaard playign a crucial role in defensive phases and Martinelli and Saka playing a crucial role on offensive transitions. We kept Liverpool at bay and we managed to score on our chances, although we should have been up by at least 2 goals at half-time… So we just beat Liverpool in a game that showcased our brilliant team defending (except for that silly own-goal).
